Mid-Jan '98--Feb '98 (First Jackpot! Sessions under DW)

Postby eddiebrock » Sun Sep 05, 2010 9:28 pm

Date: Mid-January 1998 - February 1998
Studio: Jackpot, Portland, OR
Producer: Elliott Smith, Larry Crane

[U] A Question Mark (alternate instrumental)
[U] A Silver Chain (instrumental)
[U] Instrumental (Waltz)
[X] Misery Let Me Down
[?] others

Notes:

4 unfinished songs recorded by Elliott. This session was notable for being the first items recorded by Elliott and Larry post-Dreamworks signing. Elliott has recounted this time as being incredibly frustrating as the Oscar Nomination news also was received around this period.

In May 2012, Kevin Moyer, founder of the "Live from Nowhere Near You" charity compilation series, reported that he had discovered a version of "Misery Let Me Down" from this time period, currently only available in a performance at WMUC studios in 1997, with slightly different lyrics and only one additional lyric to the surfaced version, before also being aborted.
