On October 29, 2011 WMUC-FM DJ Leila Mays played 2:45 AM from this session and remarked that the station had recently re-discovered this "lost performance" by Elliott. The DJ then mentioned the station would provide this performance to anyone who is interested in it. Engineer Griffin Rizte was the first to make the Elliott Smith community aware of this recording and the existence of an unheard original song, "Misery Let Me Down" which is aborted after two verses on this recording.

The surfaced version of this session appears to be pulled directly from the reel as all banter between songs is audible, including Elliott chatting with the engineers and receiving instructions through what sounds like a walkie-talkie, and recording a station identification that he remarked "kinda sucked." After the broadcast WMUC revealed on their website that Elliott had a cold on that day.

The broadcast version has been circulating since 1997, but without the unreleased songs/jams and false starts/multiple takes. WMUC appears to be unaware of the existence of this circulating broadcast recording, hosted on their own website.

The exact date of the recording is unknown, but this was done anywhere between June 16 and July 13, 1997. This was done for Episode 27 of the weekly program "Third Rail Radio"which continues to this day. The first two takes of Division Day are aborted, the first take of Say Yes is aborted, and both takes of Unlucky Charm are only brief acoustic jams and not complete attempts.
